-LOOKS-
Karkat typically forgoes the usual cloak and wears an over-sized Hogwarts uniform sweater regardless of the weather. His eyes are a deep rusty red, presumably a result of magic and not albinism. His hair is a dark almost-black shade of brown, usually left however it looked when he woke up that morning. Outside of the over-sized sweater, his uniform is overall rather ordinary. Unless you lift up the sweater, then you may find the knife sheathed and tucked into his pants that his father has taught him to never, ever go without. His primary accessory, however, would be a scowl.

Personality (200 character minimum): Karkat comes off as an angry-tempered hot-head, but it’s really more of a front. He’s actually very caring, attentive, nurturing, and loyal when you look past all the swears and shouting. Anyone who befriends Karkat Vantas is sure to have someone caring about them for life. Even after betrayal he can’t seem to truly hate anyone who was once a friend. Sure, he’ll bash them sometimes, or agree with their flaws, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care or doesn’t like them. It just means he knows where they need to improve and will support them on that 110%. He has a pretty neutral take on his mother, never having met her he can’t bring himself to be sad about that because he’s enjoyed his life. Karkat is pretty booksmart when it comes to magic, though less skilled in actually using it. He’s highly attached to his rat and refuses to use it in Transfiguration classes for fear that it might hurt. Karkat would protect his friends and Hogwarts with his life. He aspires to become Headmaster one day, and spend all of his time taking care of the castle and its young inhabitants. He’s dedicated to a fault, but deep inside doesn’t think very highly of himself due to his lack of skill in broomstick flying and general magic.
Background (Why Hogwarts? Childhood? Any connections to other characters?): His father is Jack Noir/Spades Slick. He never really knew his mother at all, since his Dad took him for her, but he still has her last name. ...Because Slick is wanted, and having a wanted man's last name would put him in even more danger. A muggle's last name. Very undercover. He's friends with Jade, Dave, and Eridan, Jade being his Herbology buddy. Kankri is his half-brother, sharing the same mother, not that Karkat knew about him until the sorting hat announced it to him in his first year. Karkat started showing signs of magic almost immediately after he was born, usually by causing things to burst in to flames when he would cry or have a tantrum. This caused him to be too much for his muggle mother, who passed him off to Slick to be raised and taken care of. Karkat has practically, if not literally, grown up in Hogwarts. He's befriended all of the castle's ghosts, house elves, and paintings, some of which used to be thrilled to entertain him as a small child. He grew up raised by his dad, who taught him Defense Against the Dark Arts early, and to always carry a knife. Always. He's well-advanced in DATDA and pretty bad at every other kind of wand-based magic. Potions and Herbology are his best subjects besides DATDA. He's also terrible at riding a broomstick and avoids it like the plague.
Quirks & Et cetera (Anything else you would like to add?): Badger Patronus. Always carries a knife, and will find a way to obtain another one if it's confiscated. His favorite things to raise are Mandrakes. He can usually be found reading a book either a Herbology infortmational text or a trashy muggle romance novel.
He's a commentator for Quidditch matches, during which he often needs to be silencio'd by a teacher when he gets too rowdy and starts cursing up a storm. (Rarely, but occasionally, a literal storm.)
